What to do with the list

Say you run a backpacking food blog and the check against a bigger rival returnsno cook backpacking meals at 2,400 searches a month, with their page in position 3. You have a cold-soak post but nothing on no-cook meals. That's a post to write. The same list might also include their gear reviews, which you'd skip, because your readers come to you for recipes.

Open their ranking page before you start, and note what it covers that yours wouldn't. If you want the list each week with your own rank changes, the free planemails it on Monday.

About the data

Where do the keywords come from?

From an index of Google results in the United States. The tool looks for keywords where the competitor has a page in the top 20 and your domain has none, and sorts them by monthly searches.

Why only 20 keywords?

Each check costs money to run, and the tool is free. Twenty is enough to see whether a competitor is worth watching. The paid plans track the gap every week.

Why does it say I've used my checks?

Each visitor gets 5 checks a day, and the tool has a daily budget across everyone. The same pair of domains checked again within 7 days comes from the saved result and doesn't use a check.

Does it work outside the United States?

The free tool checks US results only. In the app, you pick a country and device when you add a site, such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, or India, and every keyword on that site uses it.
